Out West in the morning sun

If you only venture out west on a Sunday drive in the afternoon, you probably seldom see these landmarks sunlit from the other direction. The Barge Aground.

The little white house at Le Don Hilton.

El Tico, with its bunker half buried in the car park...

.. here's another one. They don't seem to get much love, these ones - not having had Big Guns and without great coastal views they are a bit neglected.

I've been meaning to show how Le Braye Cafe has changed in recent years, here it is at last...

... closer. Not just a terrace and serving hatch any more - and also a bit different since the Streetview shot from 2010.

La Rocco Tower on its reef, L'Etacq beyond on the right with the pinnacle rock, and beyond that, Sark and its Les Burons rocks to the east.

.. and right a bit, from another place on another day. Looks like a big rock has fallen away on the right, leaving bare earth exposed.

Closer. How many people park there and don't realise that they're on top of a bunker?

Val de la Mare reservoir from Mont Rossignol. You can't drive along the tracks here any more, but there's a swing-gate entrance for considerate walkers.

After recent storms and heavy rain, the square fort's car park is now more of a model boating lake :)

St.Ouen's Bay - changing light

It was a day where it rained and then cleared, which left me like a kid in a sweet shop spoilt for choice where to aim the camera....

Nearby, the beach showers are a fairly new addition.

It's good to be back with my computer problems sorted at last and some usable light to take pics with. I hope it was worth the wait!

Mid west

In the middle of St.Ouen's bay is a footpath from the road to the sea wall, located somewhere between Le Braye and El Tico & Le Port... possibly just inside St.P but I'd have to check. I believe it's here on the map...

Left to right... from North to South....


Let's start at the NW corner - Les Landes - with Le Pinacle rock, a WWII tower, and L'Etacq.






Beyond La Rocco Tower is L'Ouziere bunker & slipway, and Big Vern's (at what used to be 'Sands')...






.. along a bit more (from a more western viewpoint) this stretch of coastline goes from L'Ouziere to the Don Hilton white house.






.. which then takes us to the Splash (Mont Matthieu beyond, and St.O mill up on skyline)...







.. and then to Le Port (with church up there)...







.. and Val de la Mare dam is beyond the coastline between El Tico and...






Le Braye / La Braye / Les Brayes (delete as applicable - I'd love to know!)
