Bellinghams made the corner with Dorothy Perkins (I think) on the other side. Roberts was the first shop in Bath Street proper on the Bellinghams side. It had a large frontage with three separate entrances.The first two were to the Victorian part of the building then there was a more modern annex which held the optician part of the business. Each door rang a different sounding bell so you would knew when someone had come into a different part of the shop to where you were working. The building itself was four stories high with a beauticians on the first floor the rest left as stockrooms. Last time I was in Jersey it had become a menswear shop but I don't know what happened to it after that.
3 Bath Street is still menswear, run by Str Paul Routier as "The General Clothing Store" the last I knew, probably still is. It has just been repainted and doesn't have any name on show yet. Pics to follow soon :)
That wasn't a landslide uphill from the Shell Garden, it was actually an attempt at making a new driveway up to a house up on top, that can't even be seen from the road! Crazy! The driveway would be amazingly steep.
