Merry Christmas!

From Broad St to the Royal Square... this won't be a bank this time next year, as they're moving up Vine St.

Looking back along Library Place (that was a library on the left).

.. and into the Square.

Statue.

Towards the Nativity Scene...

.. and back...

.. closer.

From the steps...

.. lighter version.

In the cosy corner.

From towards Halkett Place...

and from there, a quick glimpse of King St., where there won't be a Woolies next year.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

These decorations make the town look so pretty. This blog has been one of the best on the local cyberscene this past year, a consistently excellent and good humored project, and a welcome antidote to the long-windedness and political navel-gazing which tends to dominate. Happy Christmas! Here's hoping Santa brings you a new big lens, or something similar.

Thank you Like, good to hear from you and thanks for the encouragement!

No, nothing from Santa this year, I've been too bad :)
- but I may splash out on some new kit this year perhaps...

All the best for 2009

Many thanks for the Royal Square photos. I grew up in the flat over the then National Provincial Bank. The Piquet House (Police Station) was part of the bank in those days. The Manager and Assistant Manager had their offices in that building.

Keep them coming mon vieux as they are such a boost to us expats over in the UK.

Thanks Crapaudmatic for the Royal Square shots. I was brought up in the old National Provincial Building where Mum and Dad were caretakers. The Picquet House (Police Station) were then where the managers had their offices. Dad of course went to Parris for his pint. (The Peirson)

Happy Days.
