Still waters

Friday the 28th, it was so calm I took a quick snap of the new blue crane on the New North, seeing as the reflections were so good.

This is a one or two second exposure, a little lighter than how it looked to the naked eye, with the pic heavily processed by 'messing around with the curves' (brightening it from the original).



This pic was a 20 seconds exposure, F2.8, ISO100.
Many light areas are 'burnt out' but it's really brought up the darker regions and shows just how calm the water was to produce such clear reflections over 20 secs!

Fete de Noue kicks off

6.30pm, and this small piping band leads the way from West's Centre to...

.. now lit up for the festive season...







.. and attended by a sizeable crowd (the weather was kind) for the carol singing.





Meanwhile, to the right (but earlier in the day)...

.. it's still open :)






.. and not far away, some metalwork holding up the building (while it's being transformed into a new HSBC bank) is finally removed (back on the 19th Nov).

Crane Change

27th Sept 2008 - my Saturday lunch at the harbour was disturbed by constant clattering noises. Turns out they were removing reinforced crane supports on the New North...






.. so, with time to kill, I headed up to Pier Road for a better vantage point...
