Time Team dig up the castle
Last week the Time Team visited Jersey...
.. and had a little dig at Gorey Castle...
.. on The Green...
.. which should be interesting TV to watch next year.
Look up there...
.. zooooming in....
.. I do believe it's Baldrick on the battlements!
The cheek of it...
.. digging ruddy great 'oles in the lawn!
:)
And when all was done....
.. they filled 'em in again and replaced the turf...
.. and you'd hardly know they'd been.
- well, maybe once the weeds have grown back.
This will end up full of bracken and I'll probably never stand here again.
Nice to see this area round the back looking tidier than usual.
I look forward to seeing the programme. I hope you enjoyed the visit, TT! Your TT signs are still cable-tied to various lamposts btw :)

Beauport
Looking down the slope down to the beach at the bay of Beauport (map)
The path is sandy before steps down to the beach...
.. which looks like this.
Rocks on the east side...
.. closer. Somebody want to keep out the riff-raff.
From the carpark you can just make out the top of the power station's chimney at La Collette...
.. and the round tower at Ouaisne.

Boat Show
Last weekend we enjoyed another boat show, perchance to dream about being able to afford such luxuries.
Makes you proud to be British, doesn't it?
That's HMS Mersey, of Fisheries Protection.
I guess a Union Flag with a white border has some meaning... must look it up some time.
Probably won't be the last time tanks roll up the pier.
At the back (aft/stern/whatever) of the Lord Nelson...
.. closer.
From the front (does the 'correct' word really matter?!)...
.. closer.
The queue was too long to get on these, I didn't have the time and patience...
.. so zoomy lens will have to do.
The sun actually shone, the night before...
.. and impressed me with all the reds lit nicely.

Misc
Sheep at Les Platons...
... baaaa.
Another look at the French nuke power station.
.. on a day with reasonable visibility of the Normandy coastline...
.. the closest point.
Les Ecrehos in the foreground, pylons on the skyline..
.. is that another pair of wind turbines, faintly?
St.Brelade's parish church in evening light...
.. and a ferry crosses the bay.
Back in town, a shop has a new "oooh shiny" sign, and apparently the old buildings (and HMV mural ad) are going to be renovated.
