Crapaudvision - A line in the sand

Organised by the National Trust (Jersey), this human chain along the length of the "5 mile" St.Ouen's Bay gave thousands of proud islanders a chance to show how much they care about Jersey's beautiful coastline - and to say "STOP!" to any more overdevelopment that would spoil our gem of an isle.

Well done to all who took part.

Heritage VI - Sous Les Bois

A delightful old Jersey house (NT) in Trinity - (on Google maps)

From the road.

From the driveway

.. closer.

Plenty of history here.

Around the back...

.. and forwards and left.. along the rear of the property...

.. looking back from the courtyard.

One minute the sun was in, making things look dull...

.. and the next minute it was shining nicely, making colours sing.
In this shed...

.. was the kind of thing a more artistic photog would have had a field day with. Old bike and wooden furniture, light and shade, if only I had an ounce of artistic flair.
But no, I'll just snap what the thing looks like.

Long time since I last saw one of these bicycle licence numbers! Please don't believe it should be reintroduced - it wouldn't work.

Occupation relic?

I do find the whole concept of outhouses so grimly fascinating!

Inside then... and this shot was so mucked up, I had to abandon all hope of colour.

Upstairs, and "available light" made the colours leap out from the bedding...

.. whereas a flash blast gives a different look.

Another bedroom.

Heritage III

La Vallette, St.John
(on Google maps)

Properly exposed without clipping the whites, the pic looks flat and dull.

A bit brighter by letting the whites clip, and some sharpening.

From the garden...

.. closer...

.. along a bit...

.. and down there.

From the garden.
I like the low-roof outbuilding.

Around the back.

Inside...

Furball.

Heritage II

16 New Street, St.Helier
(on Google maps)

Front door....

.. just inside...

On the left... needs some work :)

.. on the right, at rear.

.. looking back to front door.

First floor, left side from top of stairs.

Second floor, rear of house - the first room on the left (facing road) at top of stairs...

.. same side of house, at front....

.. other side of the front of house...

.. view from that window.

Back down to the first floor...

.. and to the ground floor.

Heritage

NT(J) Heritage Sites Open Day was the 13th Sept in 2008, and I visited a few. Here are some pics to start with....

Brook Farm, Maufant
On Google maps (currently shown as it was before the neighbouring field was built upon to the North East)

The lane side...

.. closer.

Around the back.

I didn't go inside because it was one of those off-putting "please take your shoes off" kind of welcomes I don't get along with :)

An out-building.

Les Cotils Farm, rural St.Helier
On Google maps

Again no pics from inside, as there were too many people about and it would have been intrusive anyway.

A pleasant state of dilapidation

Old outside toilets are a pretty grim idea at the best of times, but this one...!

Plenty more to follow.....
