Harbour

Near the steam clock one evening...

.. farther along...

.. a zoooomy shot to bring the distant background closer...

.. and even closer.

Commercial Buildings.

Moving on, the pierheads on another evening...

.. a sucker for a sunset...

.. with Noirmont in the distance.

A little later.

Another evening, another sky....

.. hmmmm....

.. yes, it is a bit much....

.. but here's something slightly different.
While in charge of a little one (face obscured here by crude cartoon I hope gives you a giggle or more), I discovered that a 1 or 2 seconds long exposure niteshot can make for a nice portrait of some willing subject if you use the flash as well. With a tripod it would have worked out even better, without the background blurred by movement.

You get the person lit nice and clearly by the flash, and a postcard-like niteshot background. And, almost strangely, if they move a bit during the long exposure, you get a shadow effect which makes the background look like they're standing in front of a picture :)

I will experiment some more, perhaps intentionally moving the camera for some light trail effects while the person remains sharp by the much quicker burst of light from the flash.
