Ronez Point and hidden bunker

This exposed corner, visible from the Ronez Point "loop road", gives us a clue that there may be something worth a look (map)...

.. even if there's no dead easy way to it but to scramble down through the wilderness...

.. and the best way down, the last climb, is through some bushes on the east side.

(view of coast to the east)

(and to the west, the quarry)

.. and here's the bunker. No entrances or anything to see other than this small area with a drainage problem.

Looking back the way we came.

The quarry's old jetty - I don't know if it's used any more...

.. closer - some evidence of crumbling.

Steps up to the rock.

From another viewpoint, looking through the wire fence...

.. the whole quarry.

Secret Valley - damaged by motorbikes

I was delighted to find a hidden valley on the only section of the north coast not to have a cliffpath. Unfortunately, I found the ground worn smooth by motorbike scrambling.

Along La Route du Nord from the BMX track area by the FarmHouse restaurant to the Ronez Point "loop road" area, there is no cliffpath, sadly - although I'm sure a route could be found. There's quite an area of land down there, as seen on the map. I've been looking for a way down there for some time now, and recently found...

In the carpark near La Fontaine, behind this memorial, near a school bus stop...

.. is a gap in the hedge that I've never noticed before...

(on the map)

.. leading to a very quiet valley with boulder-strewn stream...

.. where the ground is barren due to motorbikes.

It's steep ground with no grip, so it's very difficult to get down without slipping. Easier on the way up though.

Now I'm not going to judge here, I just report the facts as I've found them. It's not a huge area of land spoilt really, and I would probably not have been able to have a look around if it was totally untouched and wild.

Sad to see the usual litter down there, though.

Coves and caves to the east...

.. and the coast down near where the stream meets the sea...

.. closer.

It's a great area of our coast, and I'd dearly love to see a proper foot path through this area, allowing access to this delightful haven of tranquility. If the landowner(s) could be persuaded, it would be well worth doing, the ground isn't so steep that it would be too difficult, I'm sure a route would be possible, even if it had to come back up to the main road before reaching the Ronez quarry area.

An additional benefit would be that it would make the Itex walk even longer, too :)

Trinity Parish Church

Here it is (map), in daffodil season.

Entering the doorway, at the west end, looking eastwards ahead to the altar...

.. and looking back - organ pipes unusually above the door. On the left there...

.. that rings a bell from somewhere.

Fishy cover on the font.

A side bit to the north...

.. looking over to...

.. the altar.

Very ornate.

Nice colourful window.

I don't know who Philippe De La Mare was, but that's not a bad memorial, appearance-wise. Where it fails miserably is in letting us know why he was important!

Misc

Big new private multi-storey car-park in Kensington Place (looms over the Grand Hotel as seen from the park)...

.. some of the shapes in those vent panels look like dolphins, whales and dinosaurs to me - anyone else?! :)

SGB is no more, it is now Harsco - is that another locally owned business transfered to out-of-island ownership for tax purposes? This 0-10 thing is ridiculous - there MUST be a way to get some useful tax out of locally produced profits or land use, surely?

After a few days without jet trails, it was novel to see one again, especially doing a big loop holding pattern.

A bunker at Les Platons with a view over to Bonne Nuit.

Recent new artwork at premises at the top of Trinity Hill...

.. closer...

.. details.

Anne Port from near Victoria Tower...

.. closer.

.. and the castle at Gorey...

.. as seen from by an old WWII bunker starting to get overgrown again since it was examined and cleaned up during the abuse enquiry.

Royal Bay of Grouville...

.. again from by the aerials site overlooking the castle, at Victoria Tower...

.. closer... the common and beach.
