An educational recreation of WWI trenches has been built at Samares Manor, Jersey.
More info.
It's in a field between the manor house and Rue du Coin, this shot taken from the track from the lanes to the manor yard.
Entrance to the site is through a tent...
.. and barriers keep us away from the lads in the trenches, so they can try to experience the horrors of war as much as possible.
.. closer...
.. very authentic looking, isn't it?
Looking towards Town... I mean the Front Line :)
Around the other side, looking back manor-wards.
And now, the Victoria College CCF lads feature in a selection of pictures that transport me to an imagined hostile and desperate place, endured with much grim bravery...
Thank God our forefathers were courageous enough to do what they had to do. If only the lessons from back then had been truly learnt and remembered....
